Aussie Blue Turf is built for Australian conditions and thrives in sunny areas. As a minimum, it requires 5–6 hours of direct sunlight to survive, but it prefers full-sun environments.

Aussie Blue Couch is not recommended for areas with heavy shade. It has low to moderate shade tolerance and can handle only dappled shade, but it will struggle in deep shade.

For shady areas, we recommend choosing a buffalo turf variety such as DNA Certified Sir Walter Turf or Palmetto Buffalo Turf for the best results.

Aussie Blue Couch doesn’t require much watering during the cooler months and can generally survive with minimal irrigation. However, if you want to maintain a deep green appearance, we recommend watering 2–3 times per week during the summer months.

Compared to Queensland Blue Couch, Aussie Blue has a more tightly formed leaf and root structure. It is slightly more expensive than Queensland Blue but produces denser coverage. With proper care, it can also maintain strong colour through winter.

Aussie Blue is a couch (Bermuda) grass with fine, narrow blades that create a carpet-like lawn appearance. Couch grasses are generally more cost-effective but require more maintenance than buffalo varieties like Sir Walter.

DNA Certified Sir Walter Turf is a soft-leaf buffalo turf with broader, flatter leaves that performs well in both shade and sun. In contrast, Aussie Blue does not tolerate shade well and performs best in full-sun environments.

During its growing season (September–May), Aussie Blue Couch should be mowed weekly. In the cooler months, mowing can usually be reduced to once every two weeks.

Aussie Blue Couch is great for both commercial and residential properties with its thin-bladed texture and lush, green look. It’s a popular choice for gardens, parks and sports fields due to its tight leaf and root structure which lends it to producing dense ground coverage.

Aussie Blue Couch is resistant to weeds, drought-like conditions and is relatively resistant to wear and tear. It’s also a great choice for sandy, coastal conditions.

Ready to order Aussie Blue Couch? Getting the correct measurement first is vital. Be sure to measure your yard and calculate the square meterage. We always suggest you add a 5% safety net to make sure you have a little extra if anything should go wrong.
