Our Premium Top Dress Soil is a soil-based top dress used for fertilising your lawn. Our Top Dress with AmendMax is a sand-based top dress that is suitable for lawn levelling and nutrient improvement.

This really depends on your purpose for using a top dress. If your lawn is looking dull or showing signs of nutrient depletion, we recommend using a top dress soil. Top dress soil is suitable for improving your soil profile and providing your turf with the nutrients it needs. It can temporarily even out your lawn, but as the nutrients are used and the soil settles, it won't retain the same level surface.

If you want to level uneven spots, improve drainage, and encourage upward growth, we recommend using a top dress sand. Our top dress sands also contain fertilisers and compost to give your lawn a boost.

Our Premium Top Dress Soil is a mix of screened soil, organic compost, and sawdust. The soil is sourced in South East Queensland, and the compost is a mix of chicken litter and cow manure, so no green waste is used.

The compost is also manufactured on-site to Australian Standard AS4454 and is Organic Input Certified.

The percentage breakdown of our Premium Top Dress Soil is approximately 10% organics and 90% soil in a standard mix.

To calculate how much Top Dress Soil you need for your project, measure the length and width of the area where the soil will be placed.

Next, determine the desired depth of soil. For top dressing lawns, we generally recommend a depth of approximately 5-10 mm. Do not exceed 10mm as you may smother your lawn, your grass leaves still need to be poking through the top to catch the suns rays.

Once you have your length, width, and depth measurements, you can use our cubic metre calculator above or calculate the volume manually using the following formula: Volume = Length x Width x Height

Yes, you can. In fact, your turf should be established before you decide to top dress. We don't recommend top dressing straight after laying your lawn. Wait for your lawn to establish first, then make top dressing part of your yearly lawn maintenance routine.
