Organically Enriched Compost

Using compost will help improve your soil structure, introduce nutrients, and add beneficial microorganisms back into your soil profile. Compost is a great option for breaking apart compacted clay soils while also helping bind together dry, sandy soils. It also acts as a natural water retainer, improving moisture retention and water penetration throughout the soil – great for the warmer Queensland months.

As a general rule, applying a layer of compost approximately 2.5–8 cm deep is enough to noticeably improve most garden beds. Different plants have different soil requirements, so it is important to consider the needs of the plants in your intended garden bed or pot.

For general-purpose gardening, a mix of approximately 30% compost and 70% soil is a good starting point.

Note: For best results, compost should be lightly raked or mixed into the existing soil profile.

Yes, compost can be applied directly on top of soil in garden beds and pots. Lightly raking it into the surface will help nutrients penetrate the soil and begin working more quickly.

For lawns, we generally recommend using a soil or sand based top dress instead, such as Premium Top Dress Soil or Organic Top Dress Sand.

Our Organically Enriched Compost is made from an organic blend of aged hoop fines, composted hardwood sawdust, bark fines, and aged cow manure.

Compost gradually releases nutrients as it breaks down, which can take approximately 6–12 months depending on the condition of your soil and the environment. While you may not see immediate results within a few days, you should notice gradual improvements in plant growth, soil structure, and overall soil health over time.
