Fill soil is commonly used for raising low areas, filling holes, levelling land, building house pads, and general landscaping projects. It is an economical option when large volumes of material are required to reshape or build up an area before adding a higher-quality soil or turf underlay.

• Depth of fill required (metres)

Then use the formula:

Length × Width × Depth = Cubic Metres (m³)

This will tell you how many cubic metres of fill soil you need for your project.

No, we do not recommend using fill soil for growing plants, vegetables, or herbs. Fill soil is intended as a foundation material rather than a growing medium and does not contain the nutrients or organic matter required for healthy plant growth.

It is also not suitable for use as a top dress. If you are planning to establish a lawn or garden, we recommend applying a suitable garden soil, under-turf blend, or top-dress product over the fill soil once your levels have been established.
