Frequently Asked Questions

Our Commercial Garden Soil is made from natural soil, aged compost, and sand.

To calculate how much Commercial Garden Soil you need for your project, measure the length and width of the area where the soil will be placed.

Next, determine the desired depth of soil. If you are building new garden beds over concrete or existing soil, we generally recommend a depth of approximately 30 cm. If you are simply topping up existing garden beds or planters, the required depth will vary depending on the plant type.

Once you have your length, width, and depth measurements, you can use our cubic metre calculator above or calculate the volume manually using the following formula: Volume = Length x Width x Height

Our Commercial Garden Soil features a natural soil base that is screened to remove contaminants and unwanted material before being blended with sand and compost. The soil is then allowed to mature before use, helping improve nutrient availability and overall soil health.

Topsoil, on the other hand, is the natural upper layer of soil removed from a site. While it may also be screened for consistency, it generally does not contain added organic matter. As a result, it can be more susceptible to compaction, clumping, and poor drainage.

We do not recommend using our Commercial Garden Soil for top dressing lawns. It is not suitable for levelling lawns, as it is neither fine enough nor nutrient-rich enough to produce the desired results.

You can use Commercial Garden Soil on top of existing soil, and it is a good choice for native gardens. If you are growing vegetables or plants requiring a specific pH, we recommend adding a compost or fertiliser to this mix for optimal results.

Our Commercial Garden Soil is a general-purpose soil that is suitable for filling holes. However, we would recommend our Organic Under Turf Blend instead, as it contains the nutrients needed to encourage your lawn to grow back over those areas.

No, we do not recommend this soil for growing vegetables or planting.

Our Commercial Garden Soil is a cost-effective, screened blend designed to handle a wide range of general landscaping and planting applications. Made from a balanced mix of natural soil, aged compost, and sand, it provides a workable growing medium with improved drainage and structure.

This garden soil is a practical choice for larger projects across Brisbane where value and versatility are key. It works well as a base soil for garden beds, for planting natives, or for blending with other materials to create a customised mix suited to your specific needs.
